With increased acceptance of CBD comes a subsequent increase in research. With each passing study comes a stronger case made for the use of CBD products to improve health, wellness, and recovery.  Professional Athletes, along with us mere mortals, are now a rapidly rising community accepting and using CBD for its beneficial effects. Football and UFC stars such as {Derrick Morgan, Eugene Monroe, Marvin Washington, Nate Diaz, and Yair Rodriguez} are using CBD to help with recovery from inflammation, brain injury and trauma.

CBD for Athletes:

For years athletes have been using over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen and Aleve, but this may not be as healthy we once thought. With the movement of acceptance of CBD this could be the major factor in how athletes recover from their intense training regimens. Cannabidiol (CBD) can help with their stress, sleep schedules, and be beneficial towards reducing inflammation. Starting in 2018, the World-Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD as apart of their prohibited substances. Athletes can now use CBD freely in or out of competition. This gives athletes the chance to use a natural source for recovery unlike opioids which according to CDC, in 2016 alone opioids caused 42,000 death in the U.S. For more information go tohttps://trainright.com/cbd-for-athletes-cannabidiol/

Hemp for the Win:

The BIG3 is the first professional sports league in U.S to allow its athletes to use cannabidiol (CBD). This is huge for the athletic community, pro and collegiate. These organizations are now beginning to educate themselves on the healing properties of CBD and how it can be beneficial to their athletes. At the collegiate level penalties involving cannabis products have gone from a year to 6 months and schools such as Rutgers have been even more lenient. While professional athletes are constantly looking for something to relieve their pain and stress from performing at high levels, their team doctors are passing opioids out like candy which we know taking too many can benefit athletes in the short term however can cause serious problems in the future. These athletes representing their respected leagues are becoming more aware and social advocates for CBD use.
