Maren Krings is a German/Austrian photographer and freelance artist working to document sustainability projects worldwide. Since 2016, she has been working on a photojournalism project about the worldwide rediscovery of the hemp plant. Krings became drawn to hemp when she discovered the many versatile ways it can be used, and more importantly, it's positive effect on the environment through its fast-growing renewability and its carbon sequestration powers. This project has Krings travelling to over ten countries documenting the environmental, political, and social impacts of hemp, all while living in a van!

Her completed project will be a hemp photography book called "Hemp: The Seed for a New World". Krings says, “I hope with this book that I can give the grace and magnitude back to a plant that has nourished, sheltered and protected us for thousands of years and has the potential to bring positive change to a world in need of sustainable solutions,” she says.
