China has long been considered one of the biggest players in the hemp processing and manufacturing industry. However, thanks to the growing popularity and awareness for what hemp can provide us, many nations are starting to take notice and act. For instance, Australia has recently made changes to their previous hemp laws allowing hemp companies to process and produce, locally. This has caught the attention of a specific Australian based company, Biofiba, who plans on taking full advantage of the updated law. Biofiba, produces biodegradable wood alternatives and has recently made plans to move all production of their shipping pallets to Somersby, a town about 50 miles north of Sydney. They create their shipping pallets via the hemp hurd - the inner core of the hemp plant, and until recently all of their pallets were grown and assembled in China. Obviously, the change in law gives Australian companies, like Biofiba, a huge advantage and opportunity to expand the Hemp industry locally and move towards a more sustainable future.
