Walnuts are awesome. Thats why we love them in our hemp bars. With a long array of nutrients that wholeheartedly support that human body one of the major benefits of eating walnuts regularly is it's high concentration of omega-3 fatty acid. Omega-3 is an essential fat, meaning you have to get it from your diet, and comes in three main forms - ALA, DHA, and EPA (learn more about Omega-3 fatty acid). ALA, or the omega-3 you get from plants, is prominent in walnuts. In fact, one study by the institute of medicine, shows that a sufficient or suggested ALA intake is 1.6 grams for men and 1.1 grams for women and by eating just one serving of walnuts you are meeting those guidelines, proficiently. Furthermore, the study goes on to show that each gram of ALA that you consume per day is reducing your risk of dying from heart disease by 10%. That alone should be reason enough to get your daily dose of walnuts, but just incase here are some other healthy benefits:
